The Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Unit program consists of 18 single bed Protective Environment patient rooms, with two rooms dedicated as combination Protective Environment/Airborne Infection Isolation rooms. To maintain the essential pressurization that the BMT unit requires, custom-fabricated, triple pane windows were installed with the highest level of care to prevent water penetration and air infiltration, and to improve thermal performance for this Article 28 facility. A new 2,500 square foot, 20,000 cfm Modular Mechanical Equipment Room was installed to exclusively serve the BMT unit. This is the first such unit to be erected at the NYP/CUIMC Medical Center.
