The new 39,000 square foot Hammer Teaching and Learning Center included the complete renovation of the lower two levels of the Hammer Health Sciences Center from library stacks into a state-of-the-art educational facility.  Doubling the amount of dedicated education space, the new Center includes 15 classrooms, 24-hour student study spaces, and a new reading room. Portions of the stacks were relocated to an off-site repository while administrative and rare books functions as well as reference materials remained. The project also included the complete renovation of the building’s existing lobby and the construction of a new entrance. The project was delivered four months ahead of schedule and within budget.
