Group PMX conducted a feasibility study to convert the existing PACU space into two standard ORs (450 square-feet each) along with satellite clean core, scrub sink area, new soiled holding area, storage room, and new entrance to the existing clean core, totaling 1,800 square feet. The project upgraded the current air handler units to increase capacity, provided new medical equipment and HVAC distribution, and modified existing electrical, plumbing, and medical gas systems. Additionally, the IT equipment was upgraded to accommodate live broadcasting of procedures. We carefully planned the logistics and phasing of this construction project to ensure the existing ORs remained operational. As part of the study, we also evaluated the existing, adjoining OR suite for items that might be identified as deficiencies by DOH and potentially require corrective measures or waivers. This project is Article 28.
