The 22,000 square foot renovation of the Smilow Research Center’s sub-cellar provides a new plastic surgery dissection lab, lecture hall, morgue, and cryo-electron microscopy suite. The additional infrastructural program includes floodproofing the secant foundation wall system and replacing exterior and interior sanitary and storm infrastructure, as well as replacing the existing 6,000-gallon fuel storage tank with a 9,000-gallon and a 1,500-gallon tank FO system to supply fuel to emergency generators. The project is a DOB Alteration 1 and is being turned over on a phased schedule that requires securing phased TCO approvals from regulatory agencies.
