South Nassau Communities Hospital is the flagship hospital on Long Island for the Mount Sinai Health System. In addition to being part of the PM team on capital projects, in association with CBRE, Group PMX has been an important resource for both in-hospital and off-site projects. Our team recently completed a Chiller Replacement Project, multiple Physician Development Projects and Bronchoscopy Suite Renovations, and most recently delivered a new Maternal Fetal Medicine Practice in a property adjacent to the main hospital campus.
The Maternal Fetal Medicine Practice is a high-profile project for the hospital as it centralized services for the community. The practice complements general OBGYN services by treating high-risk pregnancy cases with any kind of chronic or medical disorder.
Being an Article 28 Facility, the project not only had local governance, it required coordination with county and state level jurisdictions as well. Under very tight schedule constraints, the project team’s greatest success was on-time delivery of the project while satisfying all involved authorities.
The project included construction of ultrasound, exam, and treatment rooms; a complete replacement of HVAC systems; and a new fire sprinkler and fire alarm distribution, as well as exterior landscaping and façade repairs. The practice has been successfully treating patients since February 2018.
