Group PMX Celebrates Women in Construction at the Women Builders Council 2024 Gala

Recognition for South Brooklyn Health Project

Group PMX was proud to join STV in sponsoring the Women Builders Council (WBC) 2024 Outstanding and Next Generation of Women Builders Gala on October 17. This event held special significance for our team as the WBC’s 2024 Project of the Year award recognized Group PMX, STV, and the construction teams for their exceptional work on the NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health project.

The South Brooklyn Health campus, featuring the new 11-story Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hospital, offers world-class emergency care, modern labor and delivery suites, and state-of-the-art surgical services. This transformative project, the first new public hospital in New York City since 1982, embodies love, compassion, and respect for the community it serves.

Honoring Outstanding Women Builders

The gala was filled with memorable moments, including thunderous applause for NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health President Svetlana Lipyanskaya, MPA, and Director of Capital Projects & Contract Control Kelly Burns as they accepted the prestigious award. Group PMX was also thrilled to celebrate two of our own, Project Manager Monica Ciavarelli and Associate Project Manager Kristina Stacom, who were recognized among the Outstanding and Next Generation Women Builders. Their leadership, contributions, and achievements have not only propelled our firm forward but have also left a lasting impact on the South Brooklyn Health campus and beyond.

Group PMX was well-represented at the event by Michael Kimura, the firm’s Director of Life Sciences and Healthcare and Program Director of the South Brooklyn Health project, and Nancy Sousa, the project’s Document Controls Specialist. They were joined by CEO Michael Giaramita and Director of Marketing, Brand, and Growth Laura Gallo.

“The South Brooklyn Health project exemplifies the power of dedication, innovation, and collaboration,” said Michael Kimura. “I am incredibly proud of Monica and Kristina for the well-deserved recognition they’ve received. Their remarkable leadership and unyielding commitment have been vital in delivering this transformative healthcare facility. This project truly embodies the spirit of community and the pursuit of excellence that define Group PMX.”

Celebrating Collaborative Success

We applaud our Program Management partner, STV, and the entire South Brooklyn Health project team, including NYC Health + Hospitals, NYC Economic Development Corporation (managing agency), NBBJ Architecture (architect/engineer), Turner+McKissack (joint venture) (construction manager), BR+A Engineers (MEP engineer), and LERA (structural engineer) for their exceptional teamwork and notable accomplishments. Our collective efforts have brought to life a healthcare facility that will positively impact the community for generations to come.

Additionally, we congratulate the evening’s distinguished honorees, including Champions of Change NYS Governor Kathy Hochul, New York City Housing Authority Chair Lisa Bova-Hiatt, NYS Office of General Services Commissioner Jeanette M. Moy, Larry Sitbon of Citnalta Construction Company, Tonio Burgos of Tonio Burgos & Associates, and WBC Executive Director Renee Sacks, Ph.D.
